I have been teaching and all that fun stuff. Test last night, quiz tonight. The end of the semester is fast approaching. Now all the students are starting to panic over their various projects. I always give them at least SOME class time and/or library time. I can be pretty flexible, but I DO NOT give slack on projects and papers. They are due when they're due. Ooooh, I'm SO mean!
This past weekend I did go see This is How it Goes at the Firehouse Theatre. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was good. I like "pay what you will" Sundays! This is the last one before I leave, though. The next one's not until February. :(
The county people I called about Chloe called me back, although they can't help. The lady was really great, but her department can't do anything and she was as frustrated as me! She referred me to a friend who also works for the county and has a very similar situation. Basically she's now sending her son to Riverside and is VERY pleased. She said she's seen such a difference in these first few months. She battled with the cost issue as well, but views it as paying for college now. $19k/year. Ug. She suggested that we go at least get a tour (although even that's $100!). Most kids go there for a few years to get caught up. Middle school - $19k x 3 years = yes, cost of college. She got a $500 scholarship. Gee, thanks. Her parents or in-laws are actually paying for it, but still. I've heard such amazing things about that place. And we wouldn't have to pay the $35 copay to the therapist since all that is built in. And we still haven't even found a tutor to help with all this yet (at $50/hr...) Specialized reading groups, one-on-one tutoring, self-esteem classes, they have it all. They just seem to realize what these kids need. It's just so frustrating having Chloe with the same spelling words as Cassie. People MOVE here for this school and it's literally in our back yard. Ug. $19k/year. No child left behind, my ass.....
Gee, that's uplifting.... what else is new? Cassie came crying inside the house yesterday because the neighborhood kids were cheating at freeze tag. Apparently some kid ran inside a house. Whatever, time to come in, anyway...
This week has been pretty much about errands, teaching, and general slacking off. I actually curled up in bed yesterday before the girls came home. Audiobook? check. Cozy covers? check. Ahhh.... I needed to decompress!!! Tuesday will be here before I know it!
