I will never complain about Virginia DMV again, I will never complain about the Virginia DMV again, I will never complain about the Virginia DMV again, I will never complain about the Virginia DMV again...
I get to the vehicle place (by the way, it is in every way like a 3rd world country facility....people crammed inside, non-working fans, paperwork everywhere, people typing on half-broken typewriters, trash on the ground....). Luckily I don't have to wait too long before a bunch of the men start shooing others out of the way for the "boss meri" to come through. Yeah, in situations like these, I will cut to the front of the line...sorry.
They tell me I need to go have the car inspected first. Oh crap. I call my pal over at PNG Motors....he says they can do it, and since I've already had it all looked at, basically, they can just sign the papers. I have no idea where they're located, but he gives me the general area...I drive around...asked a few people and finally found it. The lady in the office gets me the paperwork and sticker, I pay, blah, blah.... I ask the guy about the car again and tell him I really need help with the locks. He heads outside to look at it, turns the locks a few times, says its not fully engaging. I just want it to lock. I don't care about the automatic part anymore!!! Anyway, he does something underneath the steering wheel and presto....locks are fixed. I now can LOCK THE DOORS! Manually, but it works!
I head back to the car place, they're closed. I go into the other door. They're officially closed, but the remainder of the people are there getting pictures done, etc. Finally a guy comes to help me and basically tells me now I need to go to the insurance place. And where is that? Oh, second floor of the ANZ building. I pay them, they give me another sticker, I then come back to this car place and pay them and get a third sticker and then I'm fully registered. Okay... so one day of errands wasn't enough. I guess that's my Monday afternoon..... Although I really, really, really, really want to get my CARGO and HOUSE KEYS! When it rains, it pours....but, alas, yes, I am in Lae!
