So last I heard was that classes were to resume today, but the campus was eerily quiet again this morning. I just went into my office and checked emails...NOTHING. Not a single email. Hmmm..... wait, wait, wait. Lucy comes in. We chat. I get an email that there's a Head of Dept meeting at 2 to discuss the "issues on campus". She goes over to the admin building to track some stuff down for me and she brings me back the latest scoop....
Apparently a bunch of PMV buses came in with students and parents (and ample security). They wanted to meet with administration before classes resume. And there are still students that don't feel comfortable just coming back on campus. Lovely... So my HOD meeting got pushed back until tomorrow to give everyone a chance to chat. Needless to say, I left campus!
I did find out that the university paid K63,000 to the family of the first year student that was killed. Or so the rumor goes, anyway. I asked Lucy how they calculate how much human life is worth and she said she didn't know. Sometimes I just shake my head....
