Sunday arvo (afternoon, for you Americans...) is pool time. Yesterday it was ended early due to gunshots that were just ever so slightly too close for comfort. There was the big grand finale rugby game and, apparently, people were storming the gates trying to get in.
You know that Alex and Jonika have been here too long when they can decipher whether the gun shot was a warning shot or tear gas. (Tear gas sounds hollow?). As we were all floating around the pool, we hear booing and more gun shots... we were certainly within range. Yeah, it was time to get inside.
Iso wasn't too keen on the idea and Jonika, in ever so matter-of-fact way, simply stated that the gun shots were too close and people would start walking up the hill even closer and we needed to go inside. These are times where I just think to myself.... I'm not in American suburbia anymore.... Can you imagine what sort of stir this would be in the U.S.??? But here? Eh, maybe we might find out today how many people were shot (and/or killed).*
By the way, the Lahanis won.
*According to Lucy, it was one person. Apparently, he was trying to break into a car and they shot him. I trust her gossip more than the newspaper's!
